Smooth & Textured surfaced implants are said to have between a 5 – 19.1% chance of leading to Capsular Contraction whereas Polyurethane Foam surfaced implants are said to only a 1% chance.

That said Polyurethane foam increases risk of swelling and fluid collection and for that reason are not widely used today.

Saline vs. Silicone breast implant options

Saline Implants are filled with salt water resulting in a firm feel. If a Saline Implant were to rupture the surrounding tissues would absorb the saline without harmful effects, the implant would deflate and breast volume would be lost. Deflation unfortunately is common.
